Contact point
European Environment Agency (sdi@eea.europa.eu)

The data set provides concentrations for the air pollutants Ozone (O3) at grid level combining monitoring air quality data in a ‘regression-interpolation-merging mapping’ methodology and the observational values of the air quality monitoring stations used in the interpolation. It covers Europe. It provides estimates for human health related indicators of pollutants ozone (93.2 percentile of maximu ... (read more)

Dataset: Natural Earth Data

Natural Earth is a public domain map dataset. Featuring tightly integrated vector and raster data, with Natural Earth one can make a variety of visually pleasing, well-crafted maps with cartography or GIS software. This metadata refers to the HRL Forest 2018 primary status layer Tree Cover Density (TCD). The TCD raster product provides information on the proportional crown coverage per pixel at 10m spatial resolution and ranges from 0% (all non-tree covered areas) to 100%, whereby Tree Cover Density is defined as the "vertical projection of tree crowns to a horizontal earth’s surface“. The production of the ... (read more)

The Normalised Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) is a proxy to quantify the vegetation amount. It is defined as NDVI=(NIR-Red)/(NIR+Red) where NIR corresponds to the reflectance in the near infrared band, and Red to the reflectance in the red band. It is closely related to FAPAR and is little scale dependant.

CORINE Land Cover (CLC) was specified to standardize data collection on land in Europe to support environmental policy development. The reference year of first CLC inventory was 1990 (CLC1990), and the first update created in 2000. Later the update cycle has become 6 years. The number of participating countries has increased over time − currently includes 33 European Environment Agency (EEA) membe ... (read more)

Copernicus Land Monitoring Service helpdesk (copernicus@eea.europa.eu)

The raster file is the time series of the end of the vegetation growing season. The end of the growing season time-series is based on the time series of the Plant Phenology Index (PPI) derived from the MODIS BRDF-Adjusted Reflectance product (MODIS MCD43 NBAR). The PPI index is optimized for efficient monitoring of vegetation phenology and is derived from the source MODIS data using radiative tran ... (read more)

Copernicus Land Monitoring Service helpdesk (copernicus@eea.europa.eu)

The high resolution imperviousness products capture the percentage and change of soil sealing. Built-up areas are characterized by the substitution of the original (semi-) natural land cover or water surface with an artificial, often impervious cover. These artificial surfaces are usually maintained over long periods of time. A series of high resolution imperviousness datasets (for the 2006, 2009, ... (read more)

Dataset: Natural susceptibility to compaction

This map shows the natural susceptibility of agricultural soils to compaction if they were to be exposed to compaction. The evaluation of the soil’s natural susceptibility is based on the creation of logical connections between relevant parameters (pedotransfer rules). The input parameters for these pedotransfer rules are taken from the attributes of the European soil database, e.g. soil propertie ... (read more)
